A Fun Way to Foster a Growth Mindset in Children Through the Codero Jatim Competition 2026

Hello, amazing moms and dads!

When you see flyers or posters for children’s competitions, have you ever wondered, “Will this competition just stress out my little one?” or “What’s the point besides bringing home a trophy?

It’s perfectly natural to ask those questions. But did you know? When managed in a fun and healthy environment, participating in competitions can actually become an incredible adventure that builds your child’s mental resilience and future skills.

Let’s explore together the amazing benefits behind the scenes of children’s competitions:

1. Building Mental Resilience and a Fighting Spirit

One of the most valuable lessons from a competition actually comes when your child doesn’t win.

It is in these moments that your little one learns to process disappointment in a positive way. They are trained to bounce back, develop a strong fighting spirit, and manage their emotions.

Children who possess this mental resilience are usually calmer and less likely to give up when faced with difficult schoolwork.

2. Hone Future Skills

In the future, collaboration and communication skills (soft skills) will be the key to success. Through competitions, children naturally develop various important skills, such as:

  • Critical thinking: Learning to observe their surroundings and make quick decisions.

  • Teamwork: Especially in the field of technology, children learn to listen to their friends’ ideas, negotiate, and trust one another to complete a mission together.

  • Public speaking confidence: Building children’s self-confidence as they present their brilliant ideas in front of the judges.

  • Time management: Preparing for the competition teaches children discipline through their daily practice schedules.

3. Cultivating a Growth Mindset

Healthy competition teaches children that excellence doesn’t come solely from innate talent, but from hard work and persistent practice.

When we focus on praising the process, children will view every mistake not as a failure, but as a stepping stone to becoming better tomorrow.

4. Discovering Hidden Talents

Often, children don’t realize what they’re truly good at until they dare to take on a challenge.

Through creative activities, your child may discover that they’re actually very talented at designing robots or crafting digital storylines.

5. Improving Focus and Attention

Research shows that a competitive environment can increase a child’s focus and attention on the task at hand.

The presence of “rivals” or competitors in a positive atmosphere can spark social motivation, helping children focus more on the details and results of their work.
